April Ross
April Ross is only one of only a handful of beach volleyball players who have earned medals more than once at an Olympics. Alix Klineman is a new Olympian and is set to join her in Tokyo. Ross's dream is to earn her first Olympic Gold. At 39, this could be Ross' last chance to win the gold medal at an Olympics. The athlete is optimistic she'll be successful in achieving top honours. If we do our top or play well I feel like we can get that gold medal Ross stated on NBC Boston. So I'm going to take a little bit of luck too. Ross was born in California, Costa Mesa in 1982. Her parents and her sister lived there. While at Newport Harbor High School, she played in a variety of activities. The prep sports she played included indoor volleyball along with basketball, track and running. However, she was a standout in this sport. In her college profile, she was an outside-hitting hitter, middle blocker, as well as a setter throughout her volleyball time in high school. Gatorade Circle Of Champions named her the national Player 1999. Additionally, in 2000, she was recognized as the Orange County Athlete of the Yr for volleyball. Ross is currently playing with Klineman since 2017, but Ross's beach game had been established long before the year. In fact, she won numerous major events with two different partners, one of which is an icon of volleyball. Jennifer Kessy was her partner during six years between 2007 and 2013. Also, she coached Klineman as well as herself. Together with Kessy Ross was an ace on the international circuit winning the world championship in 2009. They went on to win a silver at the 2012 Olympic Games at London. The Misty Maytreanor legendary team as well as Kerri Jennings were the winners of gold. Ross Jennings was the replacement for May-Treanor as she announced her retirement. Both went on to win the bronze beach volleyball medal at the Rio Olympics 2016 with Walsh Jennings. Ross was a college player at USC Trojans prior to beginning her pro career. She played during high school, as well as years prior to hitting the beaches as a professional. She had a great run in the NCAA tournament. She was a All-American and Pac-10 freshman of the year in the year 2000, a young freshman. In addition, she helped her Trojans to make it to the Final Four. During her sophomore year she suffered a tremendous personal setback but managed to repeat as an All-American. In her last two years she led the Trojans up the mountain and won consecutive national titles. In 2003-2004, Ross was named as the most successful collegiate female volleyball player in the United States according to The Honda Sports Award. Ross studied International Relations at USC. Margie Ross did not see her daughter reach the top of the beach volleyball ladder. Ross's mother passed away from cancer of the breast in the year 2001. Ross had just become sophomore at USC. Ross holds her mother dear. Margie is a source of inspiration in her life and on the beaches.
